The Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center (CGHMC) Cancer Institute was officially inaugurated on 10 May 2019. The Center was established with the many unmet needs facing Filipino cancer patients in mind. We want to provide a comprehensive, state-of-the-art yet affordable cancer program.

Although several cancer centers exist in the Philippines, most are only available in the more expensive private sector institutions. Furthermore, most of these so-called “cancer centers” are merely a segment or a floor of a hospital that has been segregated for cancer care and are not actual stand-alone centers for cancer care.

Furthermore, there is an increasing trend for patients from the more affluent local sector to travel out of the country to seek treatment for their cancer cases. They have a wrong perception that our country offers inferior care. This could also be due to the lack of awareness of the availability of these facilities. On the other hand, most patients from the lower-income sector are deprived of treatment due to the high cost of cancer care owing to the substantial investment associated with setting up a dedicated treatment facility

We believe that quality cancer care should be made available to all, regardless of race, social status, and creed. We long for a day when people from all walks of life need not be deprived of quality cancer care. We offer hope to the patients from the lower-income sector while the patients from the higher-income sector can avail themselves of worldclass cancer care without leaving the comforts of their home country.

The CGHMC Cancer institute is a one-stop treatment facility wherein the surgical, radiation, and medical oncology and pain and palliative care specialists work together, forming a multi-disciplinary cancer team. The Institute is housed in a dedicated building, making it the first such facility in the country.

The state-of-the-art Varian Tru Beam Linear Accelerator is at the heart of the Institute, presently the most advanced in the country. The Institute likewise houses the chemotherapy and the pain and palliative care units that occupy the second floor, offering a spacious and comfortable haven to facilitate recovery. The most advanced imaging and diagnostic modalities, such as the 512 slice CT scan, the MRI, and the PET scan, are all housed on the third floor of the building. The remaining floors are dedicated patient rooms in case there is a need for admission.

But above and beyond, it is our heart that offers hope. HOPE THROUGH EXCELLENCE. We will be with you through every step of your journey in your battle against cancer.
